Affordable Housing Trust grants $17,500 to Habitat for Maple Street
Wenham Affordable Housing Trust · Meeting of May 20, 2026
Wenham Affordable Housing Trust approves $17,500 grant to Habitat for Humanity. The Trustees voted unanimously to fund the pre-development phase of a proposed affordable housing project at 7 Maple Street, where Habitat plans to acquire a three-acre property and construct two additional single-family homes alongside an existing caretaker's cottage. Environmental testing indicates the soil supports three separate septic systems.
The project will proceed as a Chapter 40B development and be submitted to the Zoning Board of Appeals for review. Habitat will separately seek additional Trust funding to support the $400,000 property purchase. In separate action, the Trustees unanimously voted to distribute $682.65 in excess proceeds from a foreclosure sale to the former owner of 105 Pleasant Street.
