Commissioners approve deck and solar array projects

Conservation Commission · Meeting of February 9, 2026

WENHAM — Conservation Commission approves two projects under jurisdiction and advances major easement. Commissioners voted 3-2 to grant an order of conditions for a 366-square-foot deck at 107 Topsfield Road, with Jeff Ham and Chair Philip Colarusso voting against, after applicant Cathryn Kent sought waivers from buffer limits and proposed helical piers to minimize disturbance. The board unanimously approved a ground-mounted solar array at 91 Grapevine Road.

Commissioners endorsed the conservation restriction and passive recreational activities for a 125-acre Maple Street property led by Essex County Greenbelt President Chris LaPointe, with community survey results showing 97 percent support for cross-country skiing and 80 percent support for allowing dogs on the land.
