Conservation Commission backs Beverly Airport wetland comment letter
Conservation Commission · Meeting of March 23, 2026
WENHAM — Conservation Commission unanimously backs joint Select Board letter opposing Beverly Airport Commission wetland fill. Chair Philip Colarusso, Vice Chair Kenneth Whittaker, and Land Use Director Kate Mallory reviewed a 200-page Expanded Environmental Notification Form and prepared comments requesting an extension to the March 27 deadline. The airport proposal would completely fill approximately 13,000 square feet of Wenham wetlands, with mitigation to be proposed during permitting.
Colarusso expressed concerns about the stated FAA safety rationale and sought clarification that the project is intended for aircraft take-offs rather than landings. The Commission also advanced a Certificate of Compliance review for 10 Maple Street and approved prior minutes.
