WENHAM SELECT BOARD APPROVES SOLAR PROJECT
Select Board · Meeting of March 17, 2026
Wenham Select Board approves solar project for municipal power. The board voted unanimously to recommend a credit-purchase agreement with operator Solect for a ground-mounted solar installation at Iron Rail expected to offset approximately 65 percent of the town's municipal electricity usage and support the net-zero-emissions goal by 2040. The lease option avoids upfront costs and maintenance responsibility while securing long-term fixed bill credits.
The Board also unanimously approved a batting cage at Pingree Park and voted 2-0 to relocate the Cheeseman Memorial, while unanimously signing a letter opposing the Beverly Airport runway expansion under MEPA review.
