Wenham Select Board picks new chair, Cherry Street panel
Select Board · Meeting of April 28, 2026
Wenham Select Board reorganizes, forms panel on contested state housing plan. Members elected Deirdre Pierotti chair, Peter Clay vice chair, Phineas Sprague clerk and Benjamin Tymann financial officer, all 4-0, and welcomed Sprague as the board's newest member. A June 16 special election pits Gary Cheeseman against Trudy Reed for the board's vacant fifth seat.
The board voted 4-0 to grant National Grid a School Street pole permit and 4-0 to form a neighborhood working group, due back by Memorial Day, on the state's plan to build three to five housing units at 24 Cherry Street under the 2024 Affordable Homes Act's quarter-acre zoning override; the Affordable Housing Trust has pledged $300,000. "It's disgusting, nobody wants this the way it is," abutter Brian Consolazio said. The board also voted 4-0 to require parking stickers and ban smoking and vaping at Pleasant Pond.
